What fireworks??

Katherine’s 2nd trip to see fireworks was, if possible, less eventful than her first! Last year the fireworks got rained out so there were no big bangs for her to ooohhh and aaahhh over. This year, my talented young daughter, slept through the whole thing. Actually, she did crack an eye at one point, but decided sleeping was WAY more important than whatever it was we were looking at! Maybe next year.

This week Katherine (aka Weezie) moved up to the Toddler 1 room. Big changes come with moving to Toddler 1. Some of which Weezie was not prepared for. Toddler 1 means one nap a day (versus the two she was getting); no crib at school anymore; new teachers, new room and new schedule. Katherine’s not really a girl who likes change all that much. And for love of all things holy – don’t mess with her sleeping. Seriously. Yes, I realize that apple didn’t fall far from the tree. What can I tell you?

The first four days of dropping her off at daycare were NOT good. Pretty much hysterics every morning. Some days Katherine cried too. Just kidding. I’ll admit to struggling each day, but I did manage to keep it together – in front of Katherine. I used Mom trick #437: Distraction. I’d show her a cool new toy and try to slip out the door as she checked it out. It worked. Mostly.

Day 5 we made progress. No crying; just massive clinging. Of course day 5 also meant the start of the weekend. We’ll see how Monday goes.

Today we went to the library for our fourth trip to story time. I’m starting to learn more of the songs (Baby Hokey Pokey & the Bubbles song); but the nursery rhymes escape me. I’ve never heard of some of these things. I think the lady makes it up. I’ve even looked through our Nursery Rhyme books to see whether I can find these things – nope. This week it was a giant group. I didn’t count, but I’m guessing there were at least 15 kids there. The parents and kids stayed so long today that we started to crash the older kids story time. Ooops.

In other news: Katherine has been paci & bottle free for more than two weeks. The bottle has been closer to a month. The paci, daycare had been giving her during naps even though at home she wasn’t getting it and sleeping just fine. So we stopped that about two weeks ago. Little girl is growing up. She still only has one tooth – well ¼ of one – but we see the other one. It’s stubborn though, and won’t push through. Katherine’s cruising some more, but still not walking. Today she had her longest stand by herself time yet. I’m guessing it was about 15 seconds. That might be a bit of “mommy time” but you get the point. It was our longest time yet. Hehe

The rest of this weekend we’re getting ready for a big visit from Tootsie & Pop next weekend. They’re coming on Saturday and staying for a week. Pop is going to help us do some home improvement projects (oh boy!!!) and Tootsie is coming to spoil Katherine.

Pictures for the last two weeks…

Not familiar with Jack and the whole candlestick action? Ha! Actually, the last girl that would teach said that she had the rhymes available and would make you a copy- I bet this girl would do that is well if you asked.

We should bring our own list next time. I wonder if she'd be willing to do Beyonce?

Jack & the candlestick were fine. What was the other one though? The last time they were really weird! :P Definitely Beyonce! We could highjack the CD player!
